Summary:

Dinewise is our featured product because as a gourmet meal plan delivery service, it simply cannot be beat. The variety is excellent, in fact you will probably have a difficult time making choices from the huge variety not-to-be-found-anywhere-else menu options.

As a diet plan meal delivery service, it will appeal to those who want "gourmet" meals and who also want the flexibility to order what they want, when they want. There is no contract and they offer a 100% money back guarantee.

Even if you have never heard of DineWise, we highly recommend that you give them a try. Their comprehensive list of food options is extremely attractive and the quality is superb.

  Dinewise

Dinewise has been one of the leading direct marketers of chef-prepared meals and quality foods since 1959, making them the oldest company in this business that we have rated. With something around a thousand meals to choose from, you definitely get one of the largest varieties around.

For the typical dieter, there are several different diet meal plans which are based on either 1600 or 2000 calories a day. Some of the plans emphasize lean proteins, and others focus on the gourmet, or "chef-prepared" meal options. Most of the meal plans we looked at included only lunch and dinner, and not breakfast.

As part of their large variety, Dinewise also offers specific meal plans for diabetics, senior citizens, low-sodium, and low gluten meals. Dinewise also claims to be the only company that offers an online tool which allows you to pick your entrees, side dishes and veggies. This is nice as it allows you to "customize" the meals to your taste.

Their website is simple to navigate, and we were quickly overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices. Once you have chosen your particular meal plan, you just add it to the cart, pay and thats it. When you check out you get an estimated delivery date that is usually spot on.

Our meals typically arrived in 3-5 days from the time we placed our order. All of the meals were well packaged and included preparation instructions, a list of ingredients, and nutritional info. Delivery is within the continental U.S. only. At the time of our Dinewise review the prices were very reasonable and the food quality was excellent.

There is no exercise recommendation offered on the website, but with any type of weight management program, it is always a good idea to exercise whenever possible.

Summary:

The cost of Bistro MD is a little on the pricey side compared to some of the others and at the time of this writing they do not incorporate a pre-set exercise or fitness program into their plan.

On the up-side, the meals are of an excellent quality and very satisfying. They also offer low glycemic foods which are ideal for diabetics.

And Dr Phil likes it! Whether he was paid to say that or not we don’t know.

 Bistro M.D.

If you think you need a personal chef and a weight loss physician as a way to add convenience to your life and lose weight, then Bistro M.D.'s Diet to your Door program could be the ticket for you. Bistro MD makes the claim that its meals are designed by a team of nutritionist's and prepared by award winning chefs. The program was created by Dr Caroline Cederquist M.D. who has over 10 years of experience in the field of clinical weight management.

The meals are promoted as being “restaurant quality” and “freshly cooked”. The process includes vacuum sealing to lock in flavor and texture which also retains the nutritional content. They are then quick frozen before delivery.
The meal plan is 3 meals a day, plus 2 snacks. It is referred to as a “gourmet diet” due to the fact the meals are supposedly designed by award winning chef.  We aren’t sure what part any real “Chefs” play in the process but the samples which were delivered to us were of a high quality and very palatable. The quality and taste of the food is always going to be of paramount importance because if you don’t like it, you won’t eat it. Then you will be raiding the refrigerator which defeats the purpose of being on the plan to begin with. By sticking to their plan you will lose weight as you enjoy the food and the quantity and caloric intake is set. They have a good selection of meals to choose from as well..

A typical day on this plan will have you consuming an average of 1,200 calories which includes 3 meals and 2 snacks. The approximate intake each day will range from 1,100 to 1,400 calories which, with a certain amount of exercise, will result in a deficit to encourage weight loss. As with any of these types of diet plans there is a certain amount of activity expected of you. You don’t have to run 10 miles a day, but you can’t sit on the sofa all day and just expect the pounds to drop off either. You get the idea.

Current recommendations are 2,500 calories for men and 2,200 for women each day so with 1,200-1,400 you are looking at a pretty big calorie deficit. The nutritionists are there to make sure you still get all the nutrients you need for a typical day. At this calorie level expect weight loss in the range of 2 to 5 pounds per week.

Weight loss is typically greater toward the beginning of the plan.

Summary:

This type of program is similar to Medifast in that it is a lower cost solution when compared to a full "heat and eat" type of meal delivery plan.

Cost is typically around $7 a day depending on your particular needs. If you don't mind doing some meal preparation yourself, and can stick to the puddings and protein bars for the remainder of the day, this might work well for you.

 Diet Direct

Diet Direct is mainly a meal replacement program. At a starting cost of around $7 per day, it is one of the most affordable meal replacement plans on the market.

Diet Direct claims to market the same type of "medical grade" protein supplements used by physicians, hospitals and weight loss clinics. The main product is their Wonderslim meal replacement diet kit. Diet Direct offers items such as puddings, soups, shakes and snack bars as meal replacements.

According to their plan you are supposed to eat 5 puddings or shakes and 1 protein bar along with a lean meal every day. You are also allowed several servings of fruits and veggies per day for added fiber and nutrients. Diet Direct offers starter kits starting with the one week kit for $99, all the way up to a 12 week for $589. Of course as with most programs of this type, the more you order at one time, the greater the savings.

With each kit you also get a daily meal planner, shopping list and a diet scale. You also get a "Weight Management Made Easy" Guide, along with a selection of puddings, shakes, or protein bars. Diet Direct does also offer a selection of entrees in the form of boxed meals with several servings per box. Items such as vegeterain sloppy joes, and zesty chili with beans. They also offers diabetic diets and kosher diets and have recently added a line of desserts to their menu.

You can also purchase various diet pills and supplements through their website as well.

Lose up to 2-5 lbs per Weeks!

Summary:

We are typically not fans of very low calorie diets, and you might not feel satisfied after eating some of the meals. However, if you are looking for a weight loss solution that offers up faster results then this might be a good choice for you. There are a lot of Medifast diet reviews published from people that have been on this program, some positive and some not so positive. But you should know that what may not work for some, works great for others. This is not a diet that everyone can or should follow. And if you do, check with your Doctor first..

 Medifast Diet

Medifast makes the claim that you can "lose weight without shopping, cooking or counting". They also deliver these "low calorie and nutritionally balanced meals" to your home.

Medifast is like a lot of the other programs which are considered "meal replacements". Basically you will eat 5-6 meal replacements per day which include things like shakes, soups, and snack bars. You are supposed to eat every 2-3 hours to keep your metabolism going. The basis of this diet, again like so many others of it's type is simply convenience. It is attractive to those people with busy lives who want all the guesswork taken out of their meal plans. In fact there's no meal planning at all, you just eat your chosen meal replacements throughout the day, along with your lean meal toward the end of the day.

Once you have achieved your target weight you then move on to a "maintenance plan", which again is based simply on meal replacements. While on the plan you will gradually increase your calorie intake over 3 or more weeks, and then just keep eating your 1-3 meal replacements per day. Of course there is also a recommendation to exercise. It is suggested that you exercise 30-45 minutes a day, 5 times per week while on the plan. However we are not sure how active you will feel while consuming something under 1,000 calories a day. You are also advised to drink a good amount of water, usually around eight glasses a day.

This diet plan has been around for a long time (about 25 years) and you will find a lot of references on the companys webiste stating that the Medifast plan is "clinically proven and recommended by physicians". Cost is fairly reasonable at around ten dollars a day, plus the cost of their recommended "lean and green meal". The meal replacements were palatable, and we liked the six meals a day concept, even though we don't consider them meals as such.

Dr. Sanford Siegal's COOKIE DIET™

Summary:

On the face of it, the idea of a cookie diet sounds a bit absurd, but delicious! Dr. Siegel’s Cookies are similar to those meal replacement shakes that pack nutrition in a quantity controlled product.

But these cookies taste sooo much better and are much more satisfying. Thousands of people have reported success in losing weight on the cookie diet.

The plan is fairly rigid, so speak with your doctor if you are interested in following this diet.

 Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet

If you have trouble with those in between meal cravings then this is something for you. It is NOT your typical meal plan but we chose to feature it for a good reason. When you are following any weight loss plan it is very easy to succumb to those cravings. This is what cause most people to fail because they give in to the cravings, and then give up on their diet. The beauty of the cookie diet is that you can give in to those cravings, yet still stay on your diet plan and lose weight.

The cookie diet plan is a program which is designed to help you to lose weight while eating the low fat, fiber and protein filled cookies which are formulated specifically to suppress your appetite. Dr Siegal has been distributing these cookies for over 30 years to help people realize their weight loss goals. He reportedly still continues to personally mix every batch of his special cookie formula in his own private bakery near his medical clinic.

One thing Dr. Siegal recognized early on is that the majority of diets leave you with a feeling of still being hungry, which leads to the desire to eat more.  But when you can alleviate that hunger with a healthful treat, you are much more likely to realize success with your diet plan.
On the “cookie diet” you will typically eat about six cookies during the day and then eat one single meal toward the end of the day. The recommended meal at the end of the day should include 6 ounces of white meat protein and 1 cup of vegetables. In addition, it is recommended that you consume 8 glasses of liquid a day.

Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet has been promoted widely across the media, including Good Morning America, Fox News, and the New York Post. It has also been recommended by more than 200 other doctors.
